A Great Story
Racing Madrid traces its roots back to 1914 when it was formed through the merger of two Madrid-based clubs, Cardenal Cisneros and Regional. The team joined the Federación Castellana a year later and quickly established itself in the first category of the Campeonato Regional Centro, a key qualifier for the Spanish Championship. Racing Madrid won the regional title in 1915 and 1919, and over the years took part in several editions of the Spanish Football Championship (Copa), achieving its best performance in 1929 by reaching the quarterfinals before falling to Real Madrid.
After decades of dormancy, Racing Madrid was revived in 2021 by the Racing City Group and Steve Nijjar with a bold mission: to build a modern success story inspired by the likes of Wrexham AFC. The club is now the subject of a reality show following its ambitious journey from Spain’s fifth tier to the upper levels of La Liga. This revival is not only about sporting achievement but also about blending tradition, media attention, and business acumen to create a globally recognised football pathway for aspiring players.
Aman Sidhu has played a pivotal role in Racing Madrid’s international expansion by introducing the club to Australia alongside veteran football administrator Joe Colosimo. With a clear vision for growth, Sidhu aims to extend Racing Madrid’s reach beyond Europe and Australia into Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and New Zealand. His leadership focuses on creating elite football opportunities for young players across the Asia-Pacific region, shaping Racing Madrid into a truly global academy and professional pathway.
